Welcome to Tennis Players Network

TRAINING FOR RACQUET SPORTS

Being a sport that requires many physical requirements, such as good flexibility, co-ordination, aerobic fitness, strength and a good mental ability, there is obviously a lot of room for improvement in most players of any racket sport.

  • The main racket sports are Tennis, Squash, Racquetball and Badminton. They are all similar in the fact that they require the same physical training.

  • Short bursts of explosive exercise; sprinting, jumping or swinging the racket.

  • Short recovery between each point, especially for squash and badminton when played at a high standard. With tennis having short rest breaks at various intervals of the game.

  • A lot of running around back and forth with plenty of lateral movement to both sides.

  • Time on court can vary from 30 minutes to 3 hours +, so a good endurance base is required for those that are serious about their sport.

  • There is no rest period during intense rallies, the rally stops when a player loses a point. Points are lost and won depending on the skills and fitness level of you the player.

 HOTLANTA??

So far so good with the heat and it is mid-July! I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and hydrating.  Read the article full of information on maintaining hydration for yourself and your kids, it is SO important!

So, Georgia tennis is our passion at Tennis Players Network; every aspect of Georgia tennis to be more specific. We are a new business so it is real important to us to get feedback from all of you. To make sure we address the aspects of tennis that you are most passionate about, we are asking you to tell us a bit about you. We are sending this type of questionnaire to the tennis stores and tennis clubs as well. They too have desires for their programs and many clubs are implementing new formats. YOU ALL deserve to know what is available at the different clubs so you can make your best choices. We promise to bring that information to you. Click on the link below and take 2 minutes to tell us why you love tennis, what your dream tennis day is, what you would ask for if you could implement ONE change at your current tennis facility. We will compile this info and work like “dawgs” to make sure the tennis clubs hear your voice. They are only there because YOU play tennis!

Are you passing the web site and newsletters to your junior players? Please share! Brooke Nord is waiting to chat and let them express what they are experiencing as a junior tennis player.

Stay cool, keep your eye on the ball all the way to your racquet, and smile from the inside out!!! (It feels real good)

7 Ways to Prevent Dehydration in Children

Children love to play tennis outside, especially when the weather's warm. Parents, however, should know that active children do not adjust to hot temperatures (greater than 95°F) as well as adults.

Their body surface, as a proportion of their overall weight, is much greater than an adult's. Therefore, they produce more heat during physical activity and they sweat less than adults do. This reduces their ability to get rid of body heat. In addition, kids often do not drink enough to replenish the fluids they lose during prolonged activity. This can lead to severe dehydration and potentially life-threatening heat illnesses.

Here are some simple tips to help your child stay safely hydrated while playing tennis outdoors in the heat:

  • Know the physical condition of the child.

  • Acclimatize them to the heat.

  • Know the weather conditions, and plan accordingly.

  • Make your athletes wear proper clothing.

  • Watch them closely.

  • Have an emergency plan.

The show, hosted by "All My Children" star Mark Consuelos, is scheduled to premiere Monday, June 18.

SUMMER JUNIOR TENNIS TIME!!!!!!

Wusssssup?

How are ya doin? Can y’all handle all the HOTNESSSS that summer is bringing you?   Hmmmm….I know that I can. J Traveling, Dedication, Hotels, Hitting Partners, New Sites, Adventures, Good Friends, Feisty Competition, Bad Refs, “the cheater” girl/boy, your sweet doubles partner, Nike outfits, clay court stains, and infinite amounts of fresh balls, water, towels, wristbands…you name it! Yep, this sounds like the life of a junior tennis player to me!...a traveling ranked player that is!

Summer is the best season for junior tennis, at least that’s what it was like for me…..mind you I’m still only 19, so these days are not that long ago.   Well, my bad, September through May wasn’t that bad- you know why?- YOU GOT TO MISS SCHOOL!!!!= MAJOR PERK! ;)

But, anyways, I would always look forward to summer because I had bunch of tournaments all lined up. The best part of going to the tennis tournaments wasn’t necessarily tennis itself; it was the whole SHE-BANG! Tennis gave me the opportunity to do all the things I loved but the catch was that it had a purpose, not just a VACA!
