Welcome to Tennis Players Network

August 2008 Newsletter

What a month of tennis in GA!

What a month of tennis in Georgia!

Are you tired of all this tennis and heat and humidity?  Me either!!!

What a great month of tennis events going on everywhere!

Well, we are past our summer’s dilemmas of a complete computer crash and although our ship has “righted” itself, I lost quite a few of our loyal Tennis Players Network faithful players.  I didn’t actually lose them, just their email addresses.  Many have contacted me and that is great, but I am hoping you can help me get the “word out” that we aren’t ignoring anyone or going on a summer holiday never to return.

Passing the newsletter to your tennis friends and team captains is easy and would help me incredibly!!!  If you can’t that is okay, I appreciate how busy you are but I had to ask.  There are a few links right here in the newsletter to simply forward it. Thank You!

FORWARD TO A FRIEND

The good thing is I recaptured YOUR email – I hope you enjoy the newsletter, and please let me know of your interests in Georgia tennis that we don’t cover.

There is something cool out of every catastrophe, right?  Well, with the 100% computer crash, we decided to revamp the entire web site.  It is really exciting but I can’t possibly know exactly what you want to know about the most, right?  (Telepathic – nope) You gotta let me know!  Directions to the clubs, is top of the list but also tennis club events and tournaments seem to be a close second.  Okay, the women want coupons and deals from local tennis establishments.

There are many events taking place all over the state so come to our calendar often – you could be watching tennis that rivals the US. Open, I swear!  That reminds me…If you are going to the OPEN, take photos so we can do some fun stories in September about everyone’s adventures!

We are continuing to work hard to get you what you want, and of course deserve. We are actually working on something really, incredibly cool – but I will get to that soon!  Stay hydrated, play tough and smart ~ and don’t miss Troy’s article on “the serve!”

Humbly,

TIP FROM JIM HARP

Tennis is a very difficult sport, if it wasn’t so many people wouldn’t suck at it! However most errors are mental not physical. How else would you explain the hacker having so much success beating up on the rest of us?

Sorry to put the damper on the weekly lesson. The lessons help for sure but not if you don’t focus.

Keep your eyes on the ball, your mind on your strategy and your racquet aiming at your target. If you win the point who cares if your stroke finishes properly! Look at the pros. The ball is moving at incredible speeds and Federer looks like he is picking up a chicken biscuit.

Well maybe it was a bagel in his last match!!  But his eyes are on the ball, always on the ball. In fact you could make the argument that the greatest commonality among successful players is their ability to keep their eyes on the ball, and maintain high levels of focus.

How many times does your pro feed you the “second try” and you get that one in?? Hmmm. You need to bring that same level of focus on the first shot! Make sense?
Good luck out there and remember not to cheat on purpose.

Please don’t skip your lesson, we need the money.

"Serve It Good!" - By Troy Macisak

Players holding serve isn’t always about having the biggest, and fastest serve.  The key to the best servers is they have very good second serves.  The placement keeps the opponent off balance, or off the court...>>Read More!
